The effectiveness of this method ranges between 95–98%.

In some cases, if the pregnancy tissue is not fully expelled, a follow-up surgical procedure may be required.

Upon arrival, the patient registers and completes a medical form. She then presents her ID and provides basic information about her health.

The first medical step is a consultation with a gynecologist. The doctor performs an ultrasound scan to confirm the pregnancy and determine gestational age. The doctor also explains the entire procedure. The consultation is conducted in Polish, which helps reduce stress and ensures clear communication.

Next, the patient meets with an anesthesiologist. After assessing her health, the anesthesiologist selects the most appropriate type of anesthesia. At our clinic, we most commonly use short intravenous anesthesia, which allows the procedure to be performed without pain or stress.

The vacuum aspiration procedure itself takes only about 4 minutes. The doctor gently removes the contents of the uterus using a specialized suction device. After the procedure, we perform a follow-up ultrasound to confirm that everything went smoothly.The patient then remains under observation for about 30 minutes. During this time, our staff monitors her well-being and basic vital signs. At the end of the visit, the doctor prescribes a three-day course of antibiotics and provides personalized post-procedure recovery instructions. The risk of complications is minimal, and most patients are able to return to their everyday activities very quickly.

Recovery after an abortion performed at Bilovec Hospital is usually smooth. Most of our patients feel well the same day or the day after the procedure. The procedure is short, and the risk of complications is minimal.

During the first 24 hours, light bleeding similar to a period and mild uterine cramping may occur. These symptoms are normal and resolve on their own. Over-the-counter pain medication can be used to relieve discomfort.

To support the healing process, we recommend following a few simple guidelines:

• avoid intense physical activity for at least two weeks,
• take showers instead of baths and avoid swimming pools,
• use sanitary pads instead of tampons,

• very heavy bleeding (more than one pad per hour),
• persistent pain not relieved by medication,
• fever above 38°C,
• foul-smelling discharge or signs of infection.

During the follow-up visit at our hospital, some patients choose to have an intrauterine device (IUD) inserted. We offer both copper IUDs (approx. 400 PLN) and the hormonal Mirena IUD (approx. 1,300 PLN).
